Located in Fort Ord Dunes State Park in Monterey County, California, Known Distance Firing Range Number 8 was part of Fort Ord, which operated from 1917 to 1994. The site includes a guard tower where officers supervised marksmanship training, and concrete bunkers that were used to store ammunition.

This photographic series—taken between 2010 and 2014— documents the gradual transformation of these military structures after three decades of abandonment. The coastal environment has begun to alter the site—concrete eroding from salt air, steel surrendering to rust, and invasive plants consuming the landscape. "Artillery Land" explores this intersection of military history and natural reclamation, capturing a moment when a place of tactical purpose has been given over to time and elements.
